Abstract

The G² anthology of verse by Ausiàs March and the edition by Baltasar de Romaní This paper analyses the relationship between the G² anthology by Ausiàs March and the 1539 edition, defended by Pagès but not mentioned in Archer?s "stemma codicum". From a parallel study, on the one hand, of the data on the process of creation of G and, on the other, of the omissions and variants exclusive to these two anthologies, it is possible to assess the extent of the influence of the textual tradition in sheet "a" on G in the last section of the manuscript. Moreover, it also provides justification for the degree of manipulation of the original by Baltasar de Romaní, in many cases for the purpose of producing a proper Castilian version. These translation variants are often handed down, especially in the case of the G² and DE anthologies and sheets "bcde". Finally, we argue that the G² manuscript can?t have been straight from edition "a", but was probably a manuscript produced during the course of printing.
