De poesia i lògica corellana : comentaris a la «La mort per amor» Authors Tomàs Martínez Romero Abstract La mort per amor, by Joan Roís de Corella (? 1497), is a remarkable composition because it includes a lyric ?I? together with figures of clearly symbolic interpretation (phoenix, sirens) within a syllogistic configuration that is both elaborate and very beautiful. Until today, critics have sought to explain this little poem from the standpoint of tradition, of Troubador lyric poetry and of the bestiaries (mainly that of Philippe de Thaün), without realising that the result of the interpretation contradicted the author?s poetic vision, characterised by his rejection of passionate love and his adhesion to lovers? fidelity and honesty. A review of Corella?s profane works (La història de Leànder i Hero), of the reception and dissemination of this short piece (in Jardinet d?orats) and of the principles of Aristotelian logic that are conveyed by some verses of de La mort, prove the importance of Corella?s lyricism and school education.
