Abstract

This article describes the position of Eduard Artells in the literary language model of the 1960s: how he viewed the role of the editor and the most important controvèrsies aroused by his method of working. Then it analyses the relationship between the prescriptivist and the language used in his writing by searching the two volumes of Llenguatge i gramàtica and comparing the prescriptive elements with those of Fabra where they are controversial as regards normativity. The conclusion is that Artells used an archaic model of language, based on pre-war Fabra conventions.
