Resum

The Patit Tractat: introduction, translation into Modern Catalan and glossary Medieval Catalan texts are an essential tool for studying the language, but they also convey a message. This paper studies the message in the document called Patit tractat sobra lo regiment en temps de hepidèmie, which Joan Veny has already analysed from a philological standpoint. In this paper, the document is situated within its genre, its structure is described, and the text is translated into Modern Catalan. The concepts of Galenic medicine essential to its understanding are explained in footnotes. The paper concludes with a glossary in which the contextual meanings of some of the words are given, which makes it different to a philological one, the object of which is rather a study of the linguistic sign. Our methodology has been to make comparisons with other similar texts of the same period and to consult almost exclusively medieval vocabularies.
