Resum

This article is about factitive-causative structures in French and Romanian, presenting the linguistic means by which causality is expressed in both languages and showing evidence of the divergences between them. The semantic and pragmatic criteria upon which the choice of means of expression depends in the constructions discussed are also analyzed. One of the conclusions of the article, at the level of contrast, is that in Romanian there are three factitive constructions in complementary distribution: two factitive verbs, a face and a pune, and one lexical factitive, covering the area of the French factitive verb faire, which has a rich polysemy and a more marked value of generality.
