Algunes referències històriques de la varietat garnatxa a l'Empordà Authors Josep Blanch i Dalmau Abstract Fins a l'aparició de l'ampelografia moderna, que hem de situar a mitjan segle xviii, la descripció i denominació de les varietats de Vitis vinifera com la garnatxa mostren moltes dificultats. A pesar d'això, la garnatxa és una de les varietats de cep que té referències històriques més antigues en català. Aquestes referències són d'orígens molt diversos, des d'obres literàries tant italianes com catalanes a partir de finals del segle xiii, fins a tractats d'agricultura o llibres de viatges, i totes aquestes obres ens situen la garnatxa tant al Priorat com a l'Empordà. A finals del segle xix, la garnatxa passa a ser la varietat més coneguda de l'Empordà a causa, entre altres motius, del fet que la primera citació a Catalunya sobre l'aparició de la fil·loxera es produeix l'any 1879 a Rabós de l'Empordà, en uns ceps de garnatxa. Paral·lelament, Francisco Jordi Romañach, el 1878, cita la garnatxa («lladoné») com una varietat pròpia empordanesa. El vi dolç natural és el més representatiu i conegut de la comarca. Aquest vi tan emblemàtic de les terres empordaneses ha sigut font de referències per part dels seus escriptors i artistes.
