Jonàs d’Orleans: De Institutione Regia, inici de la filosofia política medieval? Mirall de prínceps? Authors Maria Lladó Gran DOI: 10.2436/20.3001.01.172 Keywords: Jonas of Orleans, Roman Empire, Church, Carolingian Empire, Ordinatio Imperi, De Institutione Regia, Mirror of Princes Abstract In the 9th century, Jonas of Orleans, with his book “De Institutione Regia” aimed to admonish Pipin of Aquitaine for his actions against his father, the emperor. The intention was to teach him the proper behavior of a good prince or king in order to preserve his territory and the power he wielded, emphasizing being a just ruler rather than a tyrant. We could consider this intention of the Bishop of Orleans as “National interest”, leading us to view his work as a “Mirror of Princes” and, at the same time, as one of the trends that medieval political philosophy would follow.
