Considerations around the phenomenological concept of «normal» after the transformations due to Covid-19 Authors Joan González Guardiola Universitat de les Illes Balears Keywords: new normality, new normal, phenomenology, Edmund Husserl, abnormality, anomaly, Covid-19. Abstract In this work we analyze the concept of new normality, its legitimacy and its history. We will apply the tools of phenomenology to the clarification of the experience of the normality of phenomena, in order to understand the criticism this concept has received. Thus, we will contrast the concept of new normality of the political decrees generated by the pandemic situation with the deployment of the phenomenological concepts of normality: (a) concordance, (b) optimization as an immanent tendency of perception, (c) intersubjective coordination with the optimization of the perceptions of others. From the comparison, we will be able to draw conclusions about why we find it so difficult to adapt the situation of new normality, and the factors that make it so specific.
