Abstract

In general, western businessmen and businesswomen invest in China to manufacture at a better price than in the rest of the world. However, between now and the next ten years it will be beneficial for companies that can set up to sell there. China will increase its consumption rates in the coming years. Cheap labour cannot continue indefinitely, as the indicators demonstrate. Breaking into the native Chinese market is a tough challenge for Spanish and Catalan companies due to size. Several research lines have been studied to overcome this problem: strengthen the native market, look for European and Spanish agreements and Asian alliances to focus on the Latin America market. The Asian experience also entails certain cultural difficulties for Westerners.
