Abstract

The application of new technologies, to teaching will increase the quality of education and democratise access even more, breaking down barriers of time and place and making real the concept of pemanent education. The new Universitat Oberta de Catalunya exists in a virtual campus connecting students and professors through modem and computers. The great challenge of the future is to transform information highways into education highways. Higher education is not just about teaching, but also about how to learn. The new technology requires new teaching on how not to become lost within information.
