Girls Drawing Girls Authors ELENApuntoG ELENApuntoG Elena Guàrdia (dibuixant) Mª Àngels Cabré (escriptora) Keywords: women creators, comic, lesbianism, feminism Abstract As authors of the first lesbian comic published in Spain and echoing the present expansion of the genre and its conquest of new groups of readers, we ask ourselves if women creators are participating in this phenomenon as much as it corresponds them or if they are still “second-class comic-book artists”. Making a review of the women who draw and the women who are drawn since the 1940s, we want to look back in order to have a much more faithful view of reality. Because The Lola’s World, our series of graphic humor books, is not an isolated phenomenon but one more step in a collective struggle, with national and international fellow travellers, and, why should we not mention it, the desire to contribute to offer a feminine viewpoint which we still belief highly necessary.
