Lamentacions del profeta Jeremies procedents del convent dels Socors de Ciutadella: una font musical del segle XV a l'Illa de Menorca Authors Jaume Escandell Guasch Abstract This paper presents a preliminary approach to a musical source from the Convent of Els Socors in Ciutadella, which is kept in the Diocesan Archive of Minorca and has not previously been studied. It is an assemblage of plainsong fragments forming part of a setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah the Prophet which has the particularity of presenting a polyphonic part a faux bourdon in three voices at the end. On the basis of this works stylistic traits, it should be situated chronologically in the 15th century, making it the earliest piece with written polyphony found on the island of Minorca to date.
