Abstract

The article describes the Fons Cassadó (Cassadó Collection) at the Biblioteca de Catalunya in Barcelona. Joaquim Cassadó (1867-1926) was a chapelmaster, choral conductor, teacher and composer. His collection includes about 230 works and fragments in many genres of sacred music, chamber music (vocal and instrumental), symphonic music, repertory for solo instruments, dance music and theatre music. In Cassadós production stands out the Simfonia dramàtica (Dramatic symphony) and the opera Lo monjo negre (The black monk); the collection also includes two symphonic works by his son, the cellist Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966).
