Abstract

The Royal Chapel of Charles III in Barcelona. New documentation about music at the CITY during the War of Succession (1705-1713). This article presents new documents about musical life in Barcelona during the years of the War of Succession (1705-1713) referring to performances of the Royal Chapel and the Kings presence in the city. It analyses two aspects of this activity: church music and court opera. Presents documentation of musical interest at the archives Arxiu de la Corona dAragó, Arxiu Històric de Barcelona and Arxiu de la Catedral de Barcelona, as well as from the libraries Biblioteca de Catalunya, Biblioteca del Seminari, Biblioteca de la Universitat de Barcelona, and the library Lambert Mata in Ripoll (Girona). Includes, among others, the only known printed document regarding a performance of the Royal Chapel in Barcelona.
