Music at Sant Pere in Ripoll: An approach to its history and to its music holdings Authors Eudald Dantí Roura Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona Keywords: parish church of Sant Pere in Ripoll, music holdings, cataloguing, organists, music chapel, 17th to 19th centuries Abstract The music holdings of the former parish church of Sant Pere in Ripoll, which are kept at the Ripollès Regional Archive (ACRI), comprise 41 boxes, 29 of which contain manuscript scores while 9 hold printed music and one box preserves documents on music theory. Two further boxes contain several fragments of unidentified musical scores. The methodology applied in the catalogue is based on the descriptive cataloguing criteria of the IFMuC project of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The data base currently contains 1,032 records, which are distributed into three groups: manuscripts of known or suspected authorship, anonymous manuscripts, and printed works. There are 422 anonymous works listed, while 469 works may be attributed to some 200 authors. The music holdings also contain 141 printed music scores. The majority of the works which have been preserved belong to the usual genres of sacred music. The holdings also include an important collection of instrumental scores, among which the verses for organ are particularly significant. Pieces for instrumental and vocal-instrumental ensembles such as transcriptions of arias and other opera-related fragments from the 19th century should also be mentioned.
