The celebrations in Girona for the double wedding of Anne of Austria with Louis XIII and of Philip IV with Elisabeth of France (1615) Authors M. Mar Miranda López Universitat de Girona Keywords: celebrations, Girona, weddings, Anne of Austria, Louis XIII, Philip IV, Elisabeth of France. Abstract Royal weddings involved a series of festivities and were among the greatest events experienced by the people. Indeed, such weddings were not only private ceremonies but also manifestations of enormous political and social impact. The Manual d’Acords of 1615 contains a description of the celebrations for this double wedding in Girona. In it we have a record of the ceremonial acts that took place on the days of the festivities as well as precise information on the instrumentalists, musical groups and specific musicians. This document also provides information on the payments that were made, confirming the important role played by music in the different ceremonies. Keywords: celebrations, Girona, weddings, Anne of Austria, Louis XIII, Philip IV, Elisabeth of France.
