La pianista i compositora Dolors Calvet Prats (1907-1988) Authors Joan Cuscó i Clarasó Abstract This paper presents Dolors Calvet Prats' biography and reviews her musical activity in different fields: as a teacher, a concert pianist and a composer.Dolors Calvet Prats (1907-1988) was born in a family with a long history in musical pedagogy and interpretation. She began studying piano when she was four, and at an early age she took charge of the academy that her mother had established in Vilafranca del Penedès. She subsequently carried on with this important pedagogical activity at the Ardèvol Academy in Barcelona. In addition to her work as a concert pianist, and as a composer of music for piano and of lieder and sardanes, she stood out for her dedication to teaching, following the Jacques Dalcroze method. This paper is the first detailed study of Dolors Calvet's biography and musical activities.
