Abstract

The library of the Barcelona Municipal Conservatory of Music (CMMB, from the Catalan) was created in the early 1930s with holdings from various legacies and donations from outstanding musicians of the Catalan music scene. The vocal repertoire section contains a large volume of published scores with manuscript Catalan translations, most of which are by Joaquim Pena i Costa (1873-1944) and Antoni Colomé i Bosomba (?-1952).Almost all the scores come from the donations of Germaine de Aranda Constantin (1888-1974), widow of Joaquim Pena, and the soprano Pilar Rufí i Bosch (1892-1969). In this paper we present and describe the collections containing these translations, at the CMMB as well as at the National Library of Catalonia and the Orfeó Català Documentation Centre.
