Joan Cererols: visió d'intèrpret Authors Josep Cabré Abstract This paper presents my ideas about the work of Joan Cererols and about the Spanish repertoires of the 17th century on the basis of my own experience as an interpreter: at first as an instrumentalist and later as a singer and conductor. I seek to define the challenges facing a current interpreter from the standpoint of the availability of musicians, instrumentation, vocal tessiture and the differences between liturgical and paraliturgical music, prima prattica and the Baroque world, drawing a parallel (rather than making a comparison) with other composers of the Spanish and European spheres of the same period. I add a list of works by Cererols that I have dealt with, as well as some comments on their interpretive possibilities. Since this is a completely subjective document, it is hard to set out a series of footnotes. Even so, at the end of this paper I have included a small and by no means exhaustive list of the books which have helped me to come to grips with this subject and with the music.
