Abstract

Nine species of Periconia (Mitosporic Fungi) from Catalonia. Descriptions and illustrations are given of Periconia atra, P. britannica, P. byssoides, P. cookei, P. echinochloae, P. hispidula, P. laleralis, P. macrospinosa, and P. Minutissima. In the mycological explorations of 1996/97 they were found on dead parts of thirteen host plants, in several localities of Catalonia (Spain), one of them at 1050 m, two at 700-800 m, and the remaining in lowlands, from 400 m until the sea level, in the Ebro delta. Some differences of relevant importance were found in almost all the species in the length of the stipes, which were shorter or in the lower limits indicated by other authors. Differences were particularly considerable in the material from the Ebro sand dunes. A key is given for the identification of the species included in this paper. Periconia atra, P. britannica, P. cookei, P. echinochloae, P. hispidula, P. macrospinosa, and, the most frequently found, P. minulissima, are recorded for the first time in Catalonia.
