Abstract

Epibryon trichostomi sp. nov. (Eurotiomycetes), a bryophilous fungus that grows on Trichostomum brachydontium. Epibryon trichostomi Nav.-Ros., Hladun et Alvaro sp. nov., a bryophilous fungi that grows on Trichostomum brachydontium, is described. It occupies a specific microniche in the host, and develops only one ascoma per leaf, isolated in the sub-apex of the adaxial face of the leaf nerve. Due to its morphological characteristics it is a species related with the group of Epibryon bryophilum, a group characterized by having superficial and setose ascomata and uniseptate ascospores. The work is complemented with an identification key for the species of the Epibryon bryophilum group, and with some considerations related to the delimitation of this species.
