Abstract

Father Anton Navarro is part of the group of writers who were actively involved in promoting the formal use of the Catalan language from the end of the nineteenth century to the first few decades of the twentieth century. This activism was expressed first through poetic creation and ongoing participation in poetry contests and cultural events throughout Catalonia, which is the best-known aspect of this author’s work, and secondly with translations (from Latin to Catalan and from Catalan to Spanish) and the writing of literary, philological, historical, pastoral or philosophical texts that he regularly published in the press and as contributions to books. In this article, we present these other texts and situate them in the context in which they were produced.
