Abstract

Researchers are divided on whether the purpose of the «Sermó de la invenció de la creu», attributed to Rafel Andrada, is moralistic or humorous. The lack of knowledge about the presumptive author’s identity has only magnified these doubts. This paper confirms the existence of Rafel Andrada, his religious work, details about his family and his relationship with Dénia and Gata —the two towns named in the sermon. However, the discovery of yet another text reopens the mystery of who really wrote the sermon and what his intention was.
