Using and assessing models for interpreting the dissolution process of ionic compounds in water Authors Beatriz Crujeiras Pérez Universidade de Santiago de Compostela Keywords: Modelling, solvation, secondary education, teacher education. Abstract In this article we present an experience about the dissolution of ionic compounds through scientific modelling. It was conducted in the master’s degree of secondary teaching and with students attending a didactics of Physics and Chemistry course. The students were required to elaborate theoretical and physical models to explain the process of dissolution of sodium chloride in water and, after that, evaluating the quality of the developed models, by means of some criteria previously established.
