Abstract

This article talks about what kind of training (askêsis) needs to be provided to control oneself and others. Plato tells us that this training is a kind of moral formation of man that should be useful in the city and therefore, referring to the actual paideia, is a formation which in general terms is about an education of virtue (arête), of the will to be a citizen that observes the laws of the city, and who gives orders and obeys them according to justice. On the basis of this postulate, we analyse the ways in which the work of education spreads among free men.
