Abstract

From a gender perspective, the story of the two sisters, Procne and Philomela, beyond the episode of infanticide and cannibalism — which is presented as the consequence of their transgressive behaviour — evidences the fact that women’s access to education and knowledge is the first step towards the destabilization of societal structures within the patriarchal order, as well as their forceful imposition.
