Puleo, which talk about in today’s capitalist society, in which the media continuosly stimulate our desire to consume –both material objects and our own bodies- and create the false illusion that absolute freedom has been achieved for everyone, we should try to maintain a critical perspective on life. In times of a supposedly sexual freedom, women still have to fight to be recognized as persons. Alicia H. Puleo, who defines herself as an “illustrated ecofeminist”, proposes to adopt an attidude which combines measure and awareness of feminist discussed, as well as gender roles and male (scientific) domination over women’s bodies, and how these determine our behavior and choices in life. Puleo suggests we benefit from traditional tools, but also from the possibilities of new technologies in order to fight stereotypes.
