La subjetividad entendida como estructura basada en la posesión (del otro), apropiación (del otro) y re-apropiación (del yo) es, según la autora, el esquema de funcionamiento de los celos. El sujeto singular (“singular being”), a pesar de estar definido como sujeto que carece de toda estrategia, sí posee su propia estrategia, que es precisamente la de poseer ninguna estrategia. La posición del sujeto singular es, según la autora, la única posición que permite una manera “no-lógica” (“mad logic”) y distinta de pensar al otro y de relacionarse con él sin deseos de anulación.
