The fact that these signifiers have been dismantled has had as a consequence the explosion of multiple forms of identification attached to also multiple ways of jouissance which vindicate their right to their own way of jouissance. As opposed to modern identity discourses, psychoanalysis observes that jouissance is particular to every subject.
