Abstract

The judicial process that is processed on the inheritance of the spouses Gosalbes and Riera in the Municipal Court of Alicante and, later, in the Royal Court of València, in the second half of the 18th century, is a good example that Valencian Foral Law continued in force after its suppression with the Nueva Planta decree on June 21, 1707. It will be like that at least, in the private sphere, acts and legal bussinesses formalized before the publication of that decree in each municipality. The old notarial norms and practices had not been forgotten by the population, nor by lawyers and jurists, although there were conflicts about their applicability in their interaction with the new Castilian Law. It was the case, specially, with some authorities who had not known Valencian Law. The final resolution seems to indicate the opportunity to avoid any judicial interactions.
