Abstract

This article delivers a raw edition of thirty-three notarial acts kept at the Departmental Archives of the Pyrénées-Orientales (ADPO) in sub-series 1B (Funds of the Chamber of the Royal Estate) and 3E (Funds of Notaries). These acts of very diverse natures have as a common subject the border which, from 1258 to 1659, separated the kingdom of Francefrom the counties of Roussillon and Cerdagne and concern more precisely the central part of the border, located between Fenouillèdes, on the one hand, and Roussillon and Conflent on the other. Recorded between the end of the 13th century and the middle of the 15th century, these documents show a certain number of daily cross-border practices (commercial, pastoral, matrimonial, migratory, etc.), different border management policies of the counties of Roussillon and Cerdagne (in particular economic and military) decided by the kings of Majorca and Aragon, and highlight the involvement of a wide variety of actors in (trans)border dynamics, from the smallest scale to the kingdom.
