Abstract

This work analyses some documents about the possibility that Charles II would have travelled to the Principality of Catalonia when he started his personal government because he had reached the required age. The main objectives of that royal trip were take the oath of the Constitutions and the convocation of Cortes Generales. This paper exposes the arguments used by the Catalan institutions to request the royal presence and reasons of the king and his ministers to retard and, finally, suspend the travel of the monarch to Catalonia.
