This is because the GIEC’s approach is descriptive-normative and varies by dialects and registers. This study investigates whether the optionality of the normative text leads to diverse interpretations among advanced users. The aim is to find out whether they tend to choose the preferred or more traditional forms or whether they instead move away from them and choose the forms deemed incorrect before the GIEC was published.
