In this paper we examine one of the perhaps most unknown dimensions of the work of Roc Chabàs Llorens (1844-1912), the archivist, historian and scholar from Dénia. They include his contribution to studies of Valencian folklore during the period of ‘Renaissance and Romanticism’ (1873-1912), based on the exhumation, transcription and study of various unpublished documents that the Valencian canon sent to Marià Aguiló i Fuster, the Mallorcan poet, bibliographer, linguist and folklorist.
