Un biògraf al laberint d'Ariadna

Resumen

This paper deals with the problems that the author faced to write a biography of Salvador Espriu. It contains a reflection on the conventions of the biographical genre, especially on the need to find a conductive thread of the speech that identifies the key elements about the writer's life. In the case of Espriu, the author stresses the importance of his familiar origins in Arenys, his leadership of the literary generation of 1936 and the tremendous impact of the Spanish Civil War in his later life. Espriu lost the opportunity to do an academic career, but became the national poet and a symbol of the survival of the Catalan culture during Franco's dictatorship.
