Abstract

The aim of this paper is to review the studies on the language model of Salvador Espriu in both poetry and prose carried out by important philologists and critics such as Josep M. Castellet, Antoni M. Badia i Margarit, C. Miralles and S. Bonet. On the basis of his own analyse of texts such as Cementiri de Sinera, Primera història d'Esther and Les roques i el mar, el blau, the author concludes that Espriu, despite his frequent criticism, remained faithful to the language model of Pompeu Fabra showing over the years a progressive preference for the standard colloquial language.
