Abstract

This article describes questions proposed for students to inquiry about aspects related to condensing boilers, which produce liquid water instead of steam. The goals are to facilitate the learning of concepts (enthalpy change, combustion, natural gas, etc.); to promote teachers and students motivation; to promote the understanding of the relationship between science and technology, and to collaborate on the training of skills (inquiry, problem solving, data analysis, teamwork, etc.). It promotes training in critical thinking and in «consumer chemistry», because of the discussion of aspects such as the causes of public support for the installation of condensing boilers and the use of invoices as an information source.
