Martins Rui Marques Vieira Celina Tenreiro-Vieira Abstract Scientific literacy should be taken into consideration in science in primary, that also includes an introduction to chemistry, and to provide teacher training in this direction, the Portuguese Ministry of Education created an education training programme for experiment based science teaching (PFEEC). Teaching scripts were developed for experiments such as Exploring Materials: Dissolving in Liquids. This article describes the teaching strategy used in these scripts and presents the data which was collected by in the classroom by the students (6-10 years old) who were doing the investigative practical work..
