Las Bebidas autocalentables y autoenfriables como recursos para un aprendizaje activo Authors Maria Luisa Prolongo Gabriel Pinto Abstract This article describes two activities designed and implemented for different educational levels. The first is a proposal of inquiry-based/discovery learning about the heating of commercially available self-heating beverages, which takes place thanks to the hydration reaction of calcium oxide. The second one refers to an example of problem based learning (PBL) in which a drink cools thanks to the heat absorbed by the process of a solution of ammonium nitrate in water. Both are cases of active methodologies which encourage the learning of physicochemical concepts and the acquisition of generic competencies. Also science technology society environment approaches are promoted, as well as training in the «consumer chemistry».
