The goal of this laboratory experiment, which is aimed at high school students, is to study different types of electromagnetic radiation and to observe some of the effects that take place in its interaction with matter. These experiments are performed with three different kinds of radiation: infrared (IR), visible light (Vis) and ultraviolet radiation (UV). In addition, a flame colour test is presented to allow the identification of different ions, and students also determine the ethanol content of some samples by using a colorimetric technique.
