Abstract

This work aims to summarize the main conclusions of recent scholarship on the history of science education. The discussion is focused on eighteenth and nineteenthcentury chemistry textbooks, mainly those published in France and Spain. The discussion is organised along major current research lines on the history of science and the results presented in two successive papers. This second paper will provide an overall picture of the main changes in the contents and structures of textbooks, and the related pedagogical ideas.
