Abstract

This paper denies the well known topic considering mountains as pollution free areas. After describing the limitations of the dispersion model to acknowledge for the observed pollutants distribution, we will introduce the global distillation model based on the pollutants long range atmospheric transport. This phenomenon induces the condensation of the pollutants in earth cold areas, in this way, we will describe its potential negative effect on Artic area and then, as this model also applies to mountain systems, we will present some of the research works which have been carried out in the Pyrenean Mountains.
