Abstract

The genus Colon Herbst, 1797, in the Iberian Peninsula (Coleoptera: Leiodidae: Coloninae) A review of genus Colon Herbst, 1797 in the Iberian Peninsula is made with keys to palaearctic subgenera and species of subgenus Myloechus Latreille, 1807 so far the only representative in the Iberian Peninsula. Redescription of each species and their geographical distribution, complemented with graphical representation of the habitus, antennae, external sexual characteristics of males, aedeagus and their internal structures are attached. Colon (Myloechus) perrini Reitter, 1885 is a good species well differentiated from Colon (Myloechus) pubescens Lucas, 1949, by the shape of metafemora and especially by the aedeagus. The presence in the peninsular area of Colon (Myloechus) griseum Czwalina, 1881 is confirmed, and the dubious validity of Colon (Myloechus) troglocerum Reitter, 1885, species described with a single female specimen of Andalusia, is discussed. The dubious presence in the peninsular area of Colon (Myloechus) puncticeps Czwalina, 1884 is also discussed so this species described from Italy and also present in Sicily, is only recorded from «Spain» with no more data
