The localities where the censuses took place were choosen mainly on acount of the wildfowl requirements. One locality is ouststanding, the Ebro Delta, and in second place the marshes of the Roses Bay. The minimum total of winter waterfowl in Catalonia if the coastal gulls are also included is between 150.000-170.000 birds. From the point of view of interesting species the following are noteworthy: Burhinus oedionemus, Egretta alba and Oxyura leucocephala. Of the last species this is the second record for Catalonia.
