Abstract

This work studies the biodiversity of detritivores coleopterous included in Tenebrionidae family in mediterranean salt-marshes of the eastern Iberian Peninsula. These insects play an important role in decomposing soil litter in semiarid environments. The sampling method used was pitfall trapping. 17 species of Tenebrionidae were recorded and their activity was mainly concentrated in spring and summer. Their study also evaluates the conservation status of these ecosystems using these coleopterous as bioindicators of environmental quality.
