Review of the family Salpingidae Leach, 1815 from the Iberian-Balearic area (Coleoptera)

Abstract

The fauna of Salpingidae Leach family, 1815 in the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands (13 species appertaining to 6 genera) is reviewed and updated. Along with the generic and specific separation keys, the specimens studied or reviewed are listed, a brief description of each species is given, its known distribution is discussed, and data on its biology are provided. The habitus and the distribution map of each species are represented. The synonymy of Aglenus brunneus chilensis Dajoz, 1969 n. syn. with Aglenus brunneus (Gyllenhal, 1813) is established.
