Abstract

This paper begins with a short introduction dealing with the causes which led to the drainage of several damp areas and lagoons in the past. If focusses on the case of the lagoon of Ivars d'Urgell (Pla d'Urgell), which was drained at the middle of this century and at present is going to be reclamed. Old uses of the lagoon are described, and related flora and fauna (now extint) is pointed out. Finally, the planned reclamation is briefly commented and advised.
