Abstract

The analysis of the respiratory capacity of electron transport in organisms is described as an index of ecosystems potential catabolism and biomass. The structure and function of electron transport system, the relation between ETS and actual respiration, the results interpretation, the usual problems, and the interest, aplications and future perspectives of the technique are also described.
