Estudi dels sòls forestals sobre esquists i pissarres del Massís del Montseny Authors Agnès Hereter i Quintana Abstract Six profiles of forest soils on schist and shale material are studied in the Western zone of the Montseny mountains. The morphological characteristics and the general physical and chemical ones are exposed in order to characterize the soils of this area according to the different variables that condition their formation and evolution. With the obtained results these soils can be classified (CPCS 1967) into three groups: brunified soils, rankers and fersiallitic soils. Following the Soil Taxonomy (1975) they are Entisols or Alfisols. The main pedogenetic process is a tendency to brunification; the local features like topography and soil depth are the ones which guide the formation and evolution of these soils.
