La Cartografia botànica a Catalunya

Abstract

A brief historical account of the botanical cartography in Catalonia is given, including works on taxa distribution and also the vegetation maps.
The most recent development, among the chorological maps, is the project «Chorological atlas of the vascular flora in the Catalan Countries», that has been initiated in 1982 by a working group named ORCA. The first maps produced by this project, following the 10 km square U.T.M. grid, are expected to appear in 1984.
Regarding the vegetation maps, the sheet «Banyoles» has just been published in 1983 as a first step towards the «Map of the vegetation of Catalonia», scale 1 :50.000. The complete collection is being published by the Generalitat de Catalunya (the autonomous Catalan Government).
